Unitary authorities of England are local authorities that are responsible for the provision of all local government services within a district. They are constituted under the Local Government Act , which amended the Local Government Act to allow the existence of counties that do not have multiple districts. They typically allow large towns to have separate local authorities from the Category: Local authority districts. It is good practice for the Council to analyse and understand the likely impact of its decisions in terms of equality and inclusion to ensure the district is a place where people are treated with fairness and respect and that they can access services which take into account their individual needs.
